AUGUST 2014 POLICE BEAT

*As officers were patrolling in the Woodlands Subdivision at about 2:00a.m. on 08/03/14, they observed a vehicle parked along the road.They heard the engine running, but couldn’t tell if the vehicle was occupied.The report indicates the officers walked up to check on the situation and saw two subjects who appeared to be sleeping in the car.They also reported smelling what appeared to be marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.Officers woke the subjects up and began speaking with them.The subjects admitted to being in possession of marijuana.Parents were contacted and reports have been forwarded.

*A resident from the 100 block of Roanoke contacted the police on 08/09/14, at 8:00a.m.He told the officer he had forgotten to close his overhead garage door the prior evening and when he checked the garage this morning he found his chainsaw had been stolen.The chainsaw was described as a 22 inch Craftsman saw in a black carrying case.The property was valued at $280.

*Quentin Martin, of Springfield, was stopped on 08/09/14, at 10:30p.m., as he was driving near the intersection of Route 29 and Taft Lane.The officer found that the registration on the vehicle Martin was driving was suspended.Martin was issued a citation for the alleged offense and his vehicle was towed.

* On 08/18/14, a resident from Woodland Trails called to report her son’s bicycle had been stolen.She believed the theft occurred sometime between 11:00p.m., on 08/16/14, and 12:00p.m., on 08/17/14.The bicycle, which was valued at $400, had been in the back of her son’s truck when it was taken.

*Angela Spinner, of Pana, was stopped on 08/22/14, at 8:15p.m. while travelling on Route 29.The registration on Spinner’s vehicle had been reported as suspended due to an insurance violation.She was cited for the alleged offense and her vehicle was towed.

*On 08/23/14, at 6:20p.m., a vehicle being driven by William Clotfelter of Plainfield was stopped.During the stop the officer learned the registration on Clotfelter’s vehicle was suspended. Clotfelter was given a ticket for the alleged suspension and had his vehicle towed.

*An officer had contact with Zachary Roberts of Springfield on 08/24/14, at 4:30p.m.The officer was notified by dispatch Roberts was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Sangamon County authorities.He was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

*The police were called on 08/25/14, at 6:00p.m., by a resident who lives in the 300 block of North Walnut.He reported he believed a family member who had been at the house earlier in the day stole some money and other things from the residence.An investigation into the reported theft as well as past thefts from the residence is continuing.

*On 08/29/14, at 4:15p.m., officers made contact with Robert Tweed of Rochester.Tweed was arrested by the officers as they had learned he had a valid warrant for his arrest which had been issued by Texas authorities. Tweed was taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

*An officer made contact with Michael Robinson, of Rochester, in the Community Park on 08/28/14, at 7:15p.m. Robinson had just pulled into a parking space.During the contact the officer learned that Robinson’s drivers license was revoked.He was arrested for allegedly driving on a revoked license.

*Zachary Krouse, of Taylorville, was arrested on 08/30/14, at about 3:00p.m.Officers discovered Krouse was wanted on a valid warrant which had been issued by Christian County authorities.

*A traffic stop was conducted on a car being driven by David England of Springfield on 08/31/14, at 6:20p.m., due to an alleged equipment violation.During the stop the officer was advised that England’s drivers license was suspended.England was cited for the alleged suspension along with several other reported violations.
