AUGUST POLICE BEAT
*Officers were contacted on 08/01/15, at 8:15p.m., in reference to a disturbance which had occurred at the Phillips 66 Station. When they arrived they met with an adult male who claimed he was battered by a female subject while at the station. According to the victim, he made a comment to the female which made her angry. He reported she struck him 4 to 5 times in the back of his head. The female subject had left the area by the time officers had arrived. A report has been forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
*On 08/03/15, two individuals came to the police department to report they were victims of a forgery. The couple stated they wrote their 31 year-old granddaughter a check for $150.00 back in June. They recently received their bank statement and noticed the check was changed from $150.00 to $750.00. An investigation into the incident resulted in the police obtaining an arrest warrant for the suspect, Deirdre Ferry. She was eventually arrested on the warrant on 08/11/15.
*When the owners of a residence in the 200 block of Cumberland returned home on 08/03/15, they discovered their house had been burglarized. The victim reported she had been running errands earlier in the day and returned home about 1:00p.m. After returning home, they found several items had been taken from the house. Reported missing were: one XBOX; one IPAD; cash; and numerous silver pieces. The loss was estimated to be in excess of $3000.00. The suspect(s) may have entered the house through an unlocked door. At this time the investigation is ongoing.
*Numerous tools were reported stolen from a garage in the 400 block of Mill Street. The victim, who had been unable to secure the garage due to recent construction, told police the theft occurred sometime between 08/04/15, and 08/06/15. The loss was estimated at $400.
*A vehicle being driven by Nathaniel Raynes of Springfield was stopped on 08/06/15, at 12:00a.m. Raynes was issued a citation for allegedly driving on a suspended license.
*On 08/06/15, at 3:45p.m., a vehicle being driven by Timothy Morrisey was stopped. The report indicates Morrisey was arrested for driving on a revoked license.
*Haratio Austin of Springfield was stopped for an alleged speeding violation on 08/09/15, at about 10:00p.m. A check of Austin’s driver’s license revealed he was currently driving on a suspended license.
*A vehicle which had been parked at a residence in the 400 block of East Main was damaged sometime after 12:00a.m., on 08/11/15. The owner of the vehicle reported his 1993 Chevrolet Truck had been keyed on the driver’s side door.
*A resident in the 100 block of Cumberland contacted the police on 08/13/15. He reported he believed an ex-girlfriend had been inside his residence without his permission and had tampered with things in the residence. He said nothing had been damaged or stolen. The complainant told the police his ex-girlfriend and he were currently awaiting a court’s decision in regards to custody of their children. It was decided the incident would be documented, but not forwarded at this time.
*Christopher Rice of Pana was stopped on 08/14/15, at 5:45p.m., for an alleged speeding violation. During the stop, the officer was informed Rice’s driver’s license was currently revoked. Police reports indicate he was cited for both alleged violations.
*On 08/16/15, at about 11:00a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle being driven by James Luetzow of Taylorville for an alleged speeding violation. A check of Luetzow’s driver’s license status indicated he was currently driving on a suspended license. He received tickets for both alleged offenses.
*A subject who was allegedly driving on a revoked license was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail on 08/19/15, at 3:30p.m. James Seagle, of Mechanicsburg, was travelling on Route 29 when he was stopped. During the stop, officers learned Seagle had a revoked driver’s license.
*On 08/21/15, officers were notified of a subject who was staying with her sister in the Rochester area and had an outstanding arrest warrant which had been issued by Sangamon County Authorities in 2000. Officers located the subject wanted on the warrant, Carey Clemons, at an address in the 100 block of Mill Street. She was taken into custody and transported to the Sangamon County Jail.
*A stop of a vehicle for a registration violation on 08/27/15, at 5:40p.m., resulted in the arrest of the driver for allegedly driving on a suspended license. Stephanie Rutherford of Loami was issued a ticket for the reported suspension and given a warning for the expired registration.
*Officers were sent to a residence in the 100 block of Potomac on 08/28/15, at 2:30p.m. The complainant had called dispatch telling the operator that her mother had not been taking her medication and was hitting herself in the face. Officers spoke with the subject’s mother who admitted to them she didn’t want to keep on living. The subject was transported to the hospital for an evaluation.
*Officers stopped a vehicle on 08/28/15, at about 1:45a.m., and learned the driver of the vehicle was reportedly driving on a suspended license. Aequilla Brown was issued a citation for allegedly driving while her license was suspended.
*A disturbance was reported to the police on 08/28/15, at about 8:00p.m. Officers were sent to an apartment complex in the 100 block of Mill Street. They arrived and met with the two parties who had been in a disturbance. The report indicates the two subjects, who happened to be sisters, appeared to be highly intoxicated and admitted to the police they had been drinking and arguing all afternoon. The two continued yelling at each other while the police were present. They eventually calmed down and were separated for the evening.
