DECEMBER 2014 POLICE BEAT
* Officers were sent to the Wyndmoor Subdivision on 12/01/14, at about 8:30p.m. as a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in the area. The officers located the vehicle and made contact with the occupants. During the stop they learned one of the occupants, Brandon Poe of Dupo, was wanted on warrants which had been issued by several counties. One of the warrants out of Dekalb County was extraditable. Poe reportedly provided false information to the officers when he was contacted in an attempt to avoid arrest. Additional charges are pending.
*A vehicle which was stopped on 12/04/14, at about 10:00p.m., resulted in the arrest of the driver, Cheyenne Carey of Shelbyville. Carey was stopped for a reported expired registration sticker. During the stop the officer learned Carey was driving without a license and was wanted on warrants issued by Vermillion County and Christian County. She was issued citations for allegedly driving without a license and for failing to provide proof of insurance.
*On 12/08/14, officer responded to the Rochester High School to assist with an ongoing investigation which had been initiated by school personnel. During the investigation it was discovered that several students had been in possession of marijuana, prescription medication and other pills. The students’ parents were contacted and informed the matter had been referred to the police. Several students were interviewed by the police and reports have been forwarded to the juvenile authorities.
*A vehicle which had been parked in the Rochester Station parking lot was damaged sometime between 8:00p.m. on 12/07/14, and 3:45p.m., on 12/08/14. There was a scratch on the passenger side of the vehicle which ran the length of the vehicle. The owner was going to take the vehicle to the body shop for an estimate on damages.
*A resident in the 400 block of Parkview contacted the police on 12/09/14, at about 5:15p.m., in reference to a domestic problem. When police arrived the complainant informed them she wanted her mother removed from her property. The mother told police she was waiting to pick up her granddaughter, but agreed to wait elsewhere.
*On 12/10/14, at about 8:15a.m., a vehicle being driven by Dillon Pearce of Chatham was stopped. During the stop the officer was informed Pearce’s driver’s license had been suspended.
*Officers were again sent to a residence in the 400 block of Parkview on 12/11/14, at about 10:00a.m. in reference to an ongoing domestic problem. When officers arrived they found the complainant was in an argument with her husband and her mother. Officers noted the complainant was very upset about the situation. In order to keep the situation from escalating, officers encouraged one of the parties to leave for the evening. There was no evidence which indicated any criminal activity had occurred.
*On 12/30/14, a vehicle which had been travelling southbound on Route 29 was stopped at about 11:30p.m. Reports indicate the officer made contact with the driver, Ashley Odell of Springfield, and discovered she has driving on a suspended license. She was cited for the alleged offense.
