FEBRUARY 2014 POLICE BEAT

*A stop on a vehicle for an expired registration sticker on 02/05/14, at about 10:30 p.m. resulted in the arrest of the driver, Lex Patkus, of Springfield. Officers learned he was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Christian County authorities.

*A vehicle which was travelling on Route 29 on 02/07/14, at 11:45 p.m.,being driven by Brett Clark of Shelbyville was stopped by police. Clark was reported to have been driving while his license was suspended. He was given a ticket for the alleged violation.

*Danielle Coady of Taylorville was stopped on 02/21/14, while driving on Route 29 at about 5:25 p.m. Officers reported Coady had been driving on a suspended driver’s license. She was ticketed for the alleged offense.

*A report was taken from a resident on Woodland Trails on 02/21/14 when the resident learned someone had opened a credit card account in his name. The victim was notified that a $982.00 charge had been made on the card. The proper authorities were notified in reference to the fraudulent activity and the victim did not experience any monetary loss.

*The police department was notified by school authorities on 02/21/14, that a juvenile student may have violated the terms of a no contact court order. After obtaining a statement from school personnel and speaking with all parties involved in the situation, a report was forwarded to the juvenile authorities.

* On 02/23/14, the department received several calls from residents in the Wyndmoor subdivision regarding vandalism incidents which had occurred. All three calls involved suspect(s) using orange colored spray paint to deface property. A vinyl fence had been damaged with orange paint in the 400 block of Heathrow, the word “crips” was painted on a sign in an empty lot on Burberry, and a small playhouse which was in a backyard of a Heathrow residence also had the word “crips” painted on a side.

*An officer went to an apartment in the 100 block of East Main searching for a subject who was wanted on a warrant. The officer located Daniel Blissett at the apartment and informed him he was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Christian County Authorities. He was taken to the Sangamon County Jail after being arrested.

*An officer reported stopping a vehicle on 02/27/14, at about 11:30 p.m. as he observed the vehicle weaving while travelling on Route 29. An investigation into the stop resulted in the arrest of the driver, Michael Wicker of Taylorville, for multiple violations. Wicker was ticketed for the following alleged violations: driving while license revoked; improper lane usage; and driving under the influence of alcohol. He was taken to the Sangamon County Jail and released into their custody.
