JANUARY 2015 POLICE BEAT

*A vehicle which was stopped for a reported registration violation on 01/02/15, resulted in the arrest of the driver, Brittany Owen of Springfield. The officer cited Owen for allegedly driving while her registration was suspended and driving while her license was suspended.

*A car driven by Brian Arterbridge, of Belleville, was stopped on 01/08/15, at about 12:45p.m. Police reports indicate after having stopped Arterbridge, the officer learned his driver’s license was suspended. Arterbridge was ticketed for the alleged offense.

*An officer was sent to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on Twin Oaks on 01/08/15, at 6:20p.m. Dispatch had advised officers a subject at this residence was intoxicated and combative. Officers arrived and made contact with the subject who was highly intoxicated and unable to care for himself. Due to the subject’s present condition and his medical history he was transported to the hospital.

*On 01/10/15, an officer met with a subject who reported she just learned someone used her credit card in November to make on-line purchases which she had not authorized. The purchases totaled in excess of $500. The victim reported the incident to the credit card company, who then instructed her to obtain a police report from the local police department. She was told once she forwarded the report to them they would remove the unauthorized charges and have their fraud department begin an investigation.

*Officers were sent to a residence on Guinevere on 01/13/15, at 9:40p.m., as dispatch advised there was a disturbance occurring between a father and his 17 year-old son. When officers arrived they learned the pair had gotten into a physical altercation, but neither subject had been injured nor displayed any signs of having been struck. After speaking with both parties, it was decided the son would go stay with a friend for the evening.

*A vehicle being driven by Marlin Thompson of Springfield was stopped on 01/17/15, at about 5:00p.m. The officer noted Thompson was stopped as his registration sticker had expired. During the stop the officer learned Thompson’s driver’s license was expired and he was wanted on a warrant which had been issued out of Livingston County.

*On 01/26/15, at about 12:05a.m., officers were sent to a residence in the 500 block of Mill Street. Officers were told by dispatch that the complainant had called in stating someone drove by his residence and fired a gun from the vehicle. He described the vehicle as an older model red truck. Officers were not able to find any evidence of a gun having been fired, but the complainant’s story was confirmed by another neighbor who told police he thought it was a handgun which had been fired. Officers followed up with information which was provided by the complainant, but the situation remains unresolved.

*An officer stopped a vehicle on 01/26/15, at 1:45p.m. During the stop the driver of the vehicle was identified as Fernando Zavala who provided the officer with a Mexican driver’s license. Zavala was eventually turned over to a Customs Enforcement Agent who reported Zavalz was in the United States illegally.

*Kathleen Miller, of Pana, was stopped on 01/26/15, at 5:45p.m. Miller was ticketed for allegedly driving on a suspended license.

*At about 7:30p.m., on 01/26/15, a vehicle being driven by Aracely Rodiguez of Springfield was stopped. The report indicates Rodiguez had been driving on a suspended driver’s license.

*An officer was sent to the Rochester Elementary School on 01/28/15, at 7:45a.m., to meet with a parent of an elementary student. The parent told the officer her child had taken a smoking device from the home and got onto the school bus with the device this morning. When the child arrived for school the device was eventually removed from him. Due to the current situation and past family history the matter was referred to the Department of Children and Family Services.
