JULY 2016 POLICE BEAT

*An employee with a heating and air conditioning company reported they had several pieces of equipment stolen while they were working in the 4800 block of Oak Hills Road on 06/30/16. The employee stated they left the job for lunch and when they returned they were missing a recovery machine and a recovery tank estimated at $1100. A subject who had been in the area when the incident occurred reported he hadn’t seen anybody take the items, but had seen a vehicle in the area and was able to provide a description of the vehicle. Officers eventually located that vehicle and spoke to the owner. He reported to police that his partner had picked up the items as he was told they were no longer serviceable. The items have been returned to the owner and charges are pending.

*Officers made contact with Andrew Holke of Rochester on 07/01/16, as the license plate on his truck was expired. A check of Holke’s driving status revealed he was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Sangamon County authorities. Holke was arrested on the valid warrant and taken to the Sangamon County Jail.

*On 07/02/16, an officer was sent to a residence in the 500 block of Karen Rose Drive in reference to a medical call. When the officer arrived he found there wasn’t a need for medical assistance, but there had been a domestic disturbance at the residence. The report indicated 2 subjects who were at the residence had gotten into an argument about their upcoming wedding. The officer was told one of the subjects had been yelling and screaming causing the other party to retreat to a bedroom. The individual then started throwing things around the house. After talking with everybody at the house it was determined that the incident was only a verbal altercation and a crime had not been committed. The subjects agreed to stay away from one another for the rest of the evening.

*The police were dispatched to the 500 block of East Main Street in reference to an animal problem on 07/14/16, at 7:00a.m. When the officer arrived he was told that two dogs had attacked a cat and had acted viciously towards the complainant. The officer was able to catch the dogs, remove them from the area eventually releasing them to Sangamon County Animal Control. He was able to identify the owner of the dogs and made contact with them. The owners were cited for various animal ordinance violations.

*A subject who returned to an address in the 100 block of Wildrose was arrested on 07/16/16, at about 2:30p.m., due to an alleged violation of an order of protection. An officer reported he observed Bradley Vose leaving the protected address on Wildrose on 07/16/16. He made contact with Vose and determined he was in violation of the order of protection.

*On 07/19/16, at approximately 8:00a.m., a subject came to the police department to report he was the victim of an identity theft. The victim stated that someone had recently opened a credit card using his name, date of birth and social security number. The account was recently closed and at this time the victim hasn’t experienced any monetary loss. The incident was documented in a report and the victim was provided with some information regarding identity theft protection.

*Multiple officers were sent to an address on Burberry on 07/20/16, in reference to a disturbance. Officers arrived and were told that one of the subjects present was having some emotional / mental issues and was intoxicated. As the officers were talking with this subject he left the residence and went to a neighbor’s house. Eventually the subject was taken to the hospital for an evaluation due to comments which he had allegedly made earlier in the day to family members.

*A vehicle stop was conducted on 07/23/16, at 6:50p.m., due to the vehicle having an expired registration. The officer made contact with the driver, Reid Patrick, who told the officer he had recently purchased the vehicle. Further investigation into the stop resulted in the driver being cited for the following alleged violations: failure to transfer title and driving on an expired license. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

*Toni Budds of Pana was stopped on 07/24/16, at about 2:00a.m. Budds was ticketed for allegedly driving on a suspended license and failing to provide proof of insurance.

*A vehicle which was stopped on 07/24/16, at about 9:00p.m., was occupied by a sixteen-year-old male who had been reported as a missing person by another police agency. The juvenile’s parents were contacted; however, they were on vacation and unable to assume custody of the minor. After contacting social service agencies and other family members, the juvenile was eventually released to a grandparent.

*After allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign, the driver of a green suv was stopped at Route 29 and East Main on 07/29/16, at about 9:00p.m. The driver of the vehicle, Henry Bly, was given a warning for the reported violation, but was cited for allegedly driving on a suspended license.
