*Juanita Vargas of Pana, was stopped on 03/01/14, at about 3:15p.m.while traveling on Route 29. The original stop was for an alleged suspended registration due to a mandatory insurance violation. As the officer made contact with the driver he reported he could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle. After explaining to the driver what he had smelled, she handed to him a jar of suspected marijuana. The driver was cited for the alleged registration suspension, her vehicle was then towed and she was informed a report would be forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
*On 03/03/14, at about 4:30p.m., a citizen called dispatch and advised them a Dodge Caravan was headed northbound on Route 29 and was swerving all over the road. When the citizen called dispatch the van was on Route 29 in the Breckenridge area. An officer located the vehicle as it entered Rochester and eventually stopped the vehicle due to several reported violations. An investigation into the stop led to the arrest of the driver, Dorothy Price of Springfield, for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
*An officer reported making a stop on a vehicle after observing several moving violations on 03/08/14, at 7:25p.m. As the officer made contact with the driver, who was a sixteen-year-old male subject, he reportedly smelled marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Drug paraphernalia and cannabis residue were found during a search of the vehicle. The suspect’s parents were called and he was released to them. A report will be forwarded to the Sangamon County Juvenile Authorities.
*A residence in the 1300 block of Wyndmoor was vandalized sometime during the first week of March. The victim reported the incident on 03/11/14. The suspects used orange spray paint and painted the letters “KKK” on the northeast side of the house. There were several other incidents of orange spray paint being painted on signs and on a fence in the Wyndmoor subdivision.
*An officer was approached by a resident on 03/16/14, at about 2:40p.m. She told the officer that she had approached her son-in-law in the Subway parking lot in an attempt to get her daughter’s car from him when a disturbance occurred. The complainant reported during the disturbance she was nearly struck by a vehicle in which her son-in-law was a passenger. Officers made contact with the parties involved in the incident and were able to assist the complainant in recovering the vehicle. The complainant did not wish to pursue any charges regarding the parking lot incident.
*An officer reported observing a vehicle travelling southbound on Route 29 at a high rate of speed at about 7:30p.m., on 03/19/14. The officer caught up to the vehicle and while travelling behind the vehicle, reported observing the vehicle nearly strike the center median and then cross over the fog line. A stop on the vehicle was initiated and the officer made contact with the driver, Christine Norris of Taylorville. Norris was eventually arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
*An officer stopped a vehicle on 03/21/14, at about 6:10p.m.while travelling on Route 29. The officer reported that the license plate and the vehicle did not match. An investigation into the stop resulted in the driver of the vehicle, David England of Springfield, being cited for allegedly driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and improper use of registration.
*Eric Dodson of Springfield, was stopped on 03/23/14, at 1:20p.m. Dodson was issued a citation for allegedly driving on a suspended license.
*At about 11:00p.m. on 03/22/14, officers were sent to an apartment in the 100 block of East Main Street. Dispatch had advised that the complainant stated it appeared a door had been kicked in. Officers arrived and met with the tenant who reported the incident had occurred earlier in the evening and she believed her ex-boyfriend had come over and kicked the door in. No further information was obtained to substantiate the tenant’s claim.
*After being stopped on 03/29/14, Rachel Pace of Effingham, was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail. While an officer was in the process of issuing Pace a ticket for an alleged insurance violation, he was informed that she was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Effingham County Authorities.
*A stop on a vehicle for a reported lane violation on 03/31/14, resulted in the arrest of the driver, Jose Delgadillo, for allegedly driving on a suspended license.
