OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2013 POLICE BEAT

*Officers responded to 447 State Street on 10/04/13, at about1:00a.m.in reference to a disturbance.When they arrived they found a male subject lying unconscious and face down on the ground.Officers learned that the subject, who was found to be highly intoxicated, had started a fight with a friend of his after the parties had pulled into the Village Market parking lot.Officers were told by the subject’s wife that during the fight her husband had passed out.All parties agreed that the friend had acted in self defense.EMS personnel examined the subject, who had been unconscious, prior to him leaving the scene.

*A resident of the 100 block of Mill Street called the police on 10/08/13, at about10:00p.m.as she wanted her boyfriend, who had reportedly been living in the residence for the past two months,removed.She told police that the two had been arguing and she now wanted him out of the residence.The male subject gathered some property and left without incident.

*An officer made a stop on a vehicle due to an alleged equipment violation on 10/18/13, at8:20p.m.The report indicates the driver of the vehicle, James Fishburn of Palmer, was arrested as he was wanted on a warrant issued by Christian County authorities.

*A Criminal Damage report was taken on 10/28/13.Unknown subject(s) vandalized the doors to the Village Park restrooms by marking the doors with graffiti.Damage was estimated at $150.

*At about 6:00a.m. on 10/30/13, an officer had contact with a Meghan Woods of Rochester.The officer discovered that Woods had a valid warrant for her arrest which had been issued by Montgomery County authorities.

*An officer was sent to a residence in the 200 block of East Main Street as the resident had called for the police as she had reportedly been battered. Police arrived and made contact with the victim who claimed she had been struck by a female suspect.During the course of the investigation, conflicting information was given by the parties.The incident was documented with statements being taken and has been forwarded to the State’s Attorney’s Office.

*An apartment located in the 100 block of East Main was burglarized on 11/11/13, between the hours of 9:40a.m. and 12:00p.m.Taken in the burglary were various pieces of electronic equipment and several video games.It appears a rear door had been kicked in allowing the suspect(s) entry.The total loss of property was valued at $1500.The investigation is ongoing.

* A vehicle being driven by Christopher Schaeffer of Shipman was stopped on 11/16/13, at about1:30a.m.The officer reported stopping Schaeffer due to an alleged improper lane usage violation.According to the police report, the officer believed Schaeffer may have been driving while he was under the influence of alcohol and asked him to consent to field sobriety testing.The report indicates Schaeffer refused to do any testing, and was then arrested for an alleged DUI.

* On 11/18/13, the Department received several calls from residents of the Park Forest Hundred Subdivision reference vehicle burglaries.In one incident a garage remote control device was taken from an unlocked car which had been parked in the drive.Additionally, 3 pairs of sunglasses, a cell phone charger, and other miscellaneous items were stolen from another unlocked vehicle.These incidents occurred on Allegheny Drive and on Roanoke Drive.

*On 11/19/13, a subject who resides on Maplehurst Drive reported she was the victim of a theft.According to the resident, in August she noticed $150 in cash was missing from her residence and then most recently she found that some jewelry was gone.The victim contacted the owner of the cleaning service she has hired and explained the situation to her.The owner began to investigate the matter and reported to the victim that one of her employees has stolen items from other homes in Springfield.The SpringfieldPoliceDepartment has been investigating those incidents; therefore, this report was forwarded to their Department.

*After a reported argument turned into a physical confrontation a resident from the 100 block of East Mill called police stating that she had been battered.An officer responded to the incident and met with the victim who reported she had been choked by a male subject.The report indicates the victim had visible signs of having been battered.Information was obtained and arrested in connection with the alleged domestic battery was Daniel Stauffer.
