*An officer got out with the driver of a vehicle who had pulled to the shoulder of Route 29 at2:00a.m. on 06/01/13. Prior to locating the vehicle, the officer had received information from dispatch that driver of a vehicle matching the description of the one he was with had been driving recklessly. The officer reported that upon making contact with the driver, the driver appeared to be confused and was unable to provide the officer with information. However, the officer reported no signs of alcohol impairment or drug usage by the driver. The officer eventually learned the driver’s name and address. He was able to contact a subject at the address and learned that the driver suffers from dementia and had been missing from the residence since early in the day. The officer returned him to his residence.
*On 06/09/13, at 8:00p.m. an officer was sent to a residence in the 400 block of Park Street in reference to an incident that had occurred earlier in the evening. The victim reported that at 7:00p.m. her ex-husband’s girlfriend had battered her in front of her children. According to the report, the suspect called the victim a name and then approached her and battered her. A report was forwarded to the States Attorney’s Office.
*Officers were sent to a residence on Merlin Drive on 06/10/13, at 1:30p.m. in reference to a domestic dispute between two teenagers. The mother of a female subject called police reporting that her nineteen-year-old daughter was attempting to break-up with her boyfriend. The boyfriend had become angry and pushed his way into the residence. When he was denied entry by the mother, he began running through the neighborhood. He eventually came back to the residence and met with the police. His father was called to the scene to take the youth home. A report was taken, but the victim was undecided as to how they wanted to pursue the matter.
*An officer who was travelling on Route 29 on 06/14/13, at about 3:30a.m. stopped a vehicle which had been travelling in front of him for several alleged violations. As the officer made contact with the driver, Marcy Calandro of Taylorville, he reported she displayed signs of being impaired. The stop resulted in the arrest of Calandro for an alleged DUI.
*Officers responded to a residence on Melody Drive on 06/14/13, as the victim wanted to report a residential burglary. Officers met with the victim and learned that she had attended a funeral earlier in the day. When she got home at about 3:30p.m., she found that a rear bedroom window had been opened and several items in the house had been moved. She also reported that $120 cash had been taken from an envelope. It appears the burglary occurred sometime between 11:30a.m. and 3:30p.m. on 06/14/13. A neighbor reported seeing a dark colored car pull into the driveway, and a male occupant then got out of the vehicle and approached the residence. The subject was described as a male subject in his mid-thirties wearing a dark hat with what appeared to be a military insignia on the front of the hat. The neighbor was leaving his residence at the time, and therefore, did not know what the subject did or how long he stayed at the residence.
*A fight which was reported to the police on 06/16/13, resulted in the arrest of Luke Short for an alleged battery. Police were called to the 400 block of Pleasant Lane at about12:15p.m. Upon arrival the officer noted that two subjects appeared to be fighting while one subject was attempting to separate the two. After the parties were separated, the officer was told by several witnesses that Short had come from his residence to the street and confronted the victim. The two exchanged words and then Short reportedly spit on the subject. He was arrested and taken to the Sangamon County Jail for the alleged offense.
*A stop of a vehicle on 06/19/13, at about 5:40p.m. resulted in the arrest of the driver of the vehicle, Jason Ross, as he reportedly provided false information to the officer. Ross had been pulled over due to an alleged registration violation. According to the report, the driver did not have his driver’s license in his possession and provided the officer with his brother’s name and date of birth. The officer eventually learned that the driver was actually Jason Ross and Jason’s drivers license was suspended. He was arrested due to the alleged violations.
*On 06/30/13, at about 9:00p.m. an officer stopped to check on a motorist who had pulled onto the shoulder of Route 29 near Camelot Drive. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle who pointed out that there were people outside of a vehicle which was parked on the other side of Route 29 and they appeared to be fighting. The officer crossed over to the other side of Route 29 and observed three people standing outside of a vehicle. As he spoke to the subjects he learned that a female, who was identified as Nicole Hunt of Taylorville, had become angry at a male passenger who she claimed was her boyfriend. The driver of the vehicle reported that he pulled to the side of the road as Hunt had become out of control. Hunt and the male subject got out of the vehicle and Hunt allegedly attacked the male. She was arrested for the alleged domestic battery.
