MARCH 2015 POLICE BEAT

*On 03/02/15, at about 11:30p.m., an officer was sent to a residence in the 500 block of Sawmill Court in reference to a violation of an order of protection. The officer arrived at the residence and met with the victim who reported her ex-boyfriend, Billy Collins, had contacted her which is a violation of her order of protection. The officer confirmed all the information and eventually arrested Collins for the alleged violation.

*Mara Miller, of Taylorville, was stopped on 03/08/15, at about 11:00p.m. As a result of the stop Miller was issued a ticket for allegedly driving on a suspended license.

*During the course of a stop conducted on 03/13/15, at 8:55a.m., an officer discovered that the license plates on the stopped vehicle did not match the vehicle. When the officer checked the driver’s information he found that the driver currently had a revoked license. The driver, Cornelius Roberts of Springfield, was arrested for allegedly driving on a revoked license. He was taken to the Sangamon County Jail and the car was towed.

*Joseph Allen, of Springfield, was stopped on 03/15/15, at about 2:15p.m. The police report indicates officers learned Allen had been driving on a suspended license. Allen was cited for the alleged violation.

*Citations were issued to a Danny Sizemore of Springfield on 03/18/15, at about 4:00p.m. for multiple violations. According to reports, during the course of a vehicle stop officers learned Sizemore was allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license as well as failing to provide proof of valid insurance.

*On 03/19/15, at 10:15p.m., an officer was dispatched to check on the welfare of a motorist who had stopped along Route 29 near Braner Road. The officer made contact with the driver who reportedly told the officer she was in extreme pain and did not want to live any longer. Due to the circumstances the subject was eventually transported to the hospital for an evaluation.

*The police department was notified on 03/20/15 that a water meter located on North Park Street had been stolen and the meter base had been damaged. The cost to replace the meter was estimated at $1500.

*A disturbance was reported to the police on 03/22/15, at 11:40a.m. Officers were sent to the Baptist Church parking lot to meet with an individual who had reportedly gotten into an argument with her boyfriend. Officers met with the female subject who told them her boyfriend and she had gotten into an argument in a residence in the 100 block of Willow Road. Officers spoke to all parties and received conflicting information about what had occurred. It was agreed the parties would separate for the time being and arrangements were made for the female to be taken to family in Springfield.

*On 03/23/15, at approximately 11:00a.m., an officer was sent to check on the welfare of subject who lived in the 400 block of Lexington Drive. Information received from a delivery person and from neighbors indicated the subject hadn’t been seen for an extended period of time which was reported as unusual. Due to the concerns for the subject officers went to the residence and eventually made entry in order to check on the well being of the resident. The subject was not in the house, but officers eventually spoke with a friend who confirmed he was all right.

*At approximately 10:20a.m., on 03/25/15, reports indicate a vehicle travelling westbound on West Main Street was clocked at 41 miles per hour in a 30 zone. The vehicle was pulled over and contact was made with the driver, Dennis Shannon of Springfield. Shannon was issued citations for the alleged speeding violation and for allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license.

*A vehicle which was stopped on 03/29/15, at about 8:45p.m., resulted in the driver receiving multiple citations. The driver, Kimberly Moran of Creve Coeur, was reportedly driving a vehicle with suspended registration. The officer was also told she was currently driving on a suspended license. She received citation for both alleged violations and had her vehicle towed from the scene of the stop.
